Doug Graham

Doug was born to Lyall and Grace in 1949 in Ottawa. Two years later his brother Glen joined the family. Doug's fondest childhood memories included time with cousins and family friends at the cottage and farm. Doug attended Carleton University and in 1975, he travelled across Canada on his motorcycle. He decided to stay in Vancouver after an accident totalled his bike and soon after, he met Lyse. Their daughter Nadja was born in 1976. Doug lived in Vancouver until 1984, when he moved to Victoria for a career advancement opportunity. He completed his degree at UVic which he attended alongside his daughter. It is during this time that Doug became a Foster Parent. Doug formed many lifelong friends in Victoria and lived in the city until 2010 when he moved to Nelson. There, Doug realized his longtime dream of designing and building 12 homes. Doug was part of a close knit Nelson community. Upon retirement in 2019, Doug joined the Home Hardware where he offered his humour and self taught building expertise to the team. On March 7th 2021, Doug unexpectedly passed at the hospital after undergoing kidney surgery. He is survived by his daughter, grandsons, brother, extended family and many many friends. He will be dearly missed for his humour, intellect, depth, integrity and kind heart that touched so many people.
